After reviewing my routers configs are in-fact using DNS I have specified and that my router has up-to-date firmware I'm left scratching my head as to "what" the notification / alert is referencing. I used Avast antivirus on a computer within my home and it has been alerting that my router has a vulnerability called HNS-DNS-HIJACK. I did this and the next scan went okay but when I scanned later the same situation occurred.

It advises me to "Change the DNS records on your router to 8.8.8.8". Details read: your When I do a Home Network Security Scan with Avast Premier, it tells me that "DNS records on your router are hijacked". Any one had this before? or has any ideas what I should do? It says the router has already been compromised and I should reconfigure the DNS settings? Im not sure how to do this though. Antivirus vendors Avast have issued a warning about vulnerable routers being exploited to redirect web traffic to phishing websites, installĪvast security on my iMac says router has been hacked and its DNS settings have been modified.
